It was the ultimate pitching showdown as ECU faced off with World Series newcomers, UCF. Both held each other to only 10 hits combined, forcing a 10th inning. A double with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the 10th allowed ECU to score the winning run in dramatic fashion. Tanner Duncan took home the MVP honors with a World Series record of 2-0, 18 innings pitched, 5 hits, no runs, 4 walks, 23 strikeouts.
